About KiTa-Swiss

Why this exists

Parents look for a KiTa under time pressure. We gather the publicly available records, check them, and show openly where each detail came from and when it was last checked.

The directory grows step by step and makes no claim to be complete. What we do not know is shown as missing. What has not been checked is marked as unchecked.

What KiTa-Swiss does for parents

Parents can contact up to five KiTas with one request. They fill in a short form about their child and the care they need, choose the KiTas and confirm the request by e-mail. KiTa-Swiss then sends it to each KiTa on the parents’ behalf, and the answers go straight back to the parents. For now, the request form is available for a first group of KiTas.

For parents, the directory and contacting KiTas are always free, whether through the request form or directly by e-mail or phone. We never sell a ranking or a placement.

Why a KiTa receives mail from KiTa-Swiss

Each of these mails carries a request from a parent who found the KiTa on KiTa-Swiss and chose to contact it. Nobody paid for the request, and it is not an advertisement.

The KiTa’s answer goes to the parent, and the request is kept as a record that both sides can look up. A KiTa that would rather not take part can tell us so once, by e-mail. From then on, requests reach it as a plain e-mail with the parent’s request, without answer buttons, and the KiTa replies to the parent directly.

Is this mail really from KiTa-Swiss?

Here is how to check, without having to trust the mail itself:

• Requests and reminders show the parent’s name followed by “via KiTa-Swiss”; the copy of a KiTa’s own answer comes from “kita-swiss.ch”. The address always ends in kita-swiss.ch.
• Every link points to kita-swiss.ch. We never shorten or redirect a link.
• Our mails to KiTas never carry attachments.
• We never ask for a password or bank details.
• Mail providers can check that our mails really come from kita-swiss.ch.
• A KiTa in doubt does not need to click: it can go to kita-swiss.ch directly, find its listing and write to us.

What we never do

• We never sell a ranking or a placement.
• We never sell parents’ data. A parent’s request goes only to the KiTas the parent chooses.
• We never charge parents to use the directory or to contact KiTas.
• We never put a paywall on an answer.

How listings are ordered

The default order is the same for everyone and does not depend on money: the entries we checked most recently come first.

Who runs KiTa-Swiss

KiTa-Swiss is run from Switzerland by its founder as a sole proprietorship. Questions, corrections and complaints reach a person, usually the same working day.

Data protection

We work under Swiss data protection law.

• Minimal principle: we collect only what the service needs.
• No account needed: anyone can search and read the directory without giving personal details.
• Searches live in the address bar; we do not store them on the visitor’s device.
• Opt-out analytics: usage measurement runs without advertising trackers and can be switched off on the privacy page.

Quality and corrections

Details go out of date. Anyone who spots an error can report it: we check the report, correct the entry and reset the date.
